NZ DOLPHIN MISERY FINALLY OVER

NZ Dolphin misery finally over After years of unnatural captivity and isolation from podmates, Kelly, the one remaining dolphin at New Zealand’s Napier Marineland died on 11 September 2008.  Her death signals the end of an era. Kelly was the last surviving captive dolphin in the country.

Blind bears start new lives Two blind bears that spent their lives in tiny, rusting cages found new homes in the large woodland enclosures of the world’s biggest bear sanctuary last week – part of a groundbreaking project funded by WSPA.

MEMBER SOCIETY SAVES CUBS FROM BEAR BAITING

Member society saves cubs from bear baiting WSPA member society Bioresource Research Center (BRC) worked with government wildlife authorities to carry out a daring confiscation in June. Their own safety was threatened as they rescued two bear cubs from poachers in Pakistan.

SPANISH COMPANY STOPPED FROM TRANSPORTING HORSES

Spanish company stopped from transporting horses The Spanish company with the worst record for breaking transport regulations is no longer transporting horses after authorisation for five of its vehicles was withdrawn and ten others were stopped and fined by the authorities.
